Yes I said it, and I will say it again! I LOVE my job! Is it what I want to do for the rest of my life? absolutely not! Is it my dream job? definitely not! Is it chuck full of “meaningless monotonous” work? You better believe that! So why do I love my job?
I love my job because I have great flexibility. I get to pick my own hours, which gives me the opportunity to have three-day weekends every week. I absolutely love that. It is a temporary job, and any day now any given project could be over, which keeps me on my toes and reminds me not to settle because there are so many other things that I would love to do with this life I have been blessed with. But I think one of the greatest things about my job is that it is sooooo monotonous that we are encouraged, no begged to bring our ipod to work so that we don’t fall asleep at our desk…I know you may think it’s funny but I’m pretty sure I have learned the art of falling asleep with my eyes open while still clicking on my mouse so I look busy…
But back to the ipod. Because I get to listen to my ipod all day, I am able to listen to great audiobooks that I would have never had the opportunity to listen to…being the busy bee that I am. I have listened to some great audiobooks that have seriously changed my life! Oh and don’t get me started on the podcasts! Ay Ay Ay…sometimes I can’t believe that I’m getting paid to do what I love to do—LEARN!
So why don’t you do something this week that you have never done before…carve out some time to learn something new. Listen to a great inspirational podcast, or a great audiobook…I promise you that you will not regret it! Or find something you like about your job and focus on that instead of complaining.
Remember as a man thinks in his heart, so is he…if you think that your job stinks, but that you deserve a stinky job, then you do. But if you think that your current job stinks, but it is a temporary stepping stone for you while you take the steps to ensure that you are doing something you love within the next month or two, then it is and you will.
Have a great week my dear!
