The power of "Who"

I hate networking! Don’t get me wrong, I love meeting new people, but I hate meeting new people where the only purpose for our encounter is for them to possibly give me a job. It makes me feel awful because I feel like I am begging, and it makes them feel awful because they feel like they are being used. So I was reading this book “The power of Who” by Bob Beaudine (I got it from the library, thank God for the library), and let me tell you it left me very happy… He said “forget everything you have ever learned about networking” focus on your “who” instead.

Who is your “who” (you may ask)? Your “who” is/are your friends and family. Those people who love and care about you and have your best interest at heart. These are the only people who truly care if you have a job or not, and they will do anything that they can to help you accomplish your goals. Instead of spending time trying to meet people with “connections” spend the time cultivating your “who.” God placed these people in your life for a reason, and instead of thinking that they are not connected enough to help you, give them a chance…if you have specific goals, then there will always be somebody who knows somebody…and these people will invite you into their “who” circle, which will eventually expand your “who” circle…

Why not do something this week to show at least one person in your “who” circle how much you care and appreciate them (don’t forget to share on the blog). Of course pick up the book, it will give you a more thorough explanation, and will answer some of your questions.

Remember that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he…so if you think your friends are not special, then they are not. But if you think that your friends are special and important, then they are…and I’m sure they think the same way about you.

Have a great week my dear!
