No More Mondays

The other day I was at work listening to an audiobook that I checked out from the library (Thank God for local libraries!). Quick side note: I love my job, and I will be writing a future blog entry about it…innyhoo back to the audiobook. So I’m at my desk listening to the audiobook and all the excitement kept building up until I could not take it anymore. So I leaned my head on my desk and screamed “Yes Yes Yes Lord” while simultaneously screaming “NO No NO, No more good news!” Yes believe it or don’t, I was screaming these things…in my mind of course, I mean I would not want to scare off my colleagues in the cubicles beside me…but yeah I highly recommend this book.

The title of the book is “No More Mondays” written by Dan Miller (also the author of “48 days to the work you love”). He talks about why is it that no one says thank God it’s monday? Because most people hate their jobs! Hating your job is an unfortunate waste of time because you have this great and unique talent that God has given to you to make a difference here on earth, and no matter what you do you cannot squeeze your “difference making” to just weekends.

Why don’t you become a good steward of your life today, if you hate your job start thinking of things you enjoy doing, and think of ways that you can create change with that. Pick up the book (or Audiobook) he has some really great suggestions…

Do something this week that you have never done before! Take a skills test, or find a quiet place and find what you are passionate about and start brainstorming. (and please share on the blog)

Remember that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he…so if you think you deserve to be unhappy at your job, then you do. Or if you think you will never make money doing what you enjoy doing, then you won’t. But if you think you will be successful in whatever you decide to do, then you will.

Have a great week my dear!

The Blog is BACK!!!!

Hey Everybody!!!

I know I know I know it’s been a while but lets just say its been a fun-filled summer. I made two major relocations (across multiple state lines), I took a major Exam (Thank God I passed), I started a new job had some setbacks and major breakthroughs! Yay! fun times…

Innyhoo, I’m writing this blog post to introduce you to the new and improved iyasOStuff blog…Check out the “About me” page, I added some of my beliefs there…

I am really excited about the upcoming blog entries…I promise I have some very interesting book reviews, and encouraging things to blog about…I’m also writing a “super-secret” book that I promise to keep you updated about…you shan’t be disappointed!!! (so don’t forget to subscribe or check out the blog every Monday morning)

p.s. I will not be making new videos right now because I am looking for a new software that will work with my updated windows 7 and the MP4 file format of my camera…so if you have any suggestions of free or really cheap software please let me know.

Isn't he lucky…

So the other day this guy at work asked me on a date! Don’t get me wrong, he was a cutie and I was pleased that he was asking me out…but you should see some of the other girls he asked out…jacked up teeth, messed up eyes, nasty faces, just plain old mess!!! I mean wow!!! He is sooooo lucky that I said yes to him, He is soooo lucky that someone as cute as me, and as nice as me, and someone who is smart and makes lots of money like me, that someone like me would date him…He better appreciate it!!!

I hope you realize that I’m being facetious…but sometimes this is the way I treat God. I act like I am so good that God was lucky to have me as one of his people. I act like other people need a renovation, but I just need a new coat of paint on my window ledges, nothing major.

When I realize how God really sees me (Isaiah 64: 6) , and how he chose me regardless of everything, and now he loves me so much more (Romans 5:6-11) then and only then can I truly appreciate this kind God who has chosen to be my best friend…

Thank you Jesus!!!

Book Review: Jesus Calling Devotional for Kids

Title: Jesus Calling: 365 Devotions For Kids

Author: Sarah Young

Retail Price: $14.99

ISBN: 1400316340

Publisher: Tommy Nelson

Sooo…I was really excited to read and review this book*…and let me just say that I was not disappointed.

One of my favorite teachers (Andrew Wommack) always talks about how faith is our “sixth sense” and that we are supposed to learn how to walk by faith, and not by sight. Because after all we cannot please God unless we have faith.

What I really enjoyed about this devotional is the daily reminder to trust God, focus on God, believe what God said in His word. There is nothing too deep about it, it all boils down to having faith.

Ms. Young does a great job with engaging the reader without talking down to him or her. It was a little challenging to remember that the devotional was written from God’s point of view, so that when it says “I love you” it is God saying I love you. But that was also a good touch because it is a good reminder that God often does not speak to us through the third person, but would speak to us in such a way that we think we are the ones speaking to ourselves, when the only good that exists in us is from God.

Okay the not so fun part (Critique):

There were some devotional entries that were not biblically sound. Most of them focused on God sending us hardships and pain so that we could trust Him— God does not do that, he only sends us good thing. Or the extreme focus on trusting God through the bad times…yes we should trust God always, but we should also resist the devil…so if there are things that are not quite right, the best thing is to look to see if it is something that the Bible says is part of God’s character…i.e. things that are good, pure, of good report etc…if its not from God (disease, poverty, pain, strife, hatred), then stand on God’s promises and resist the devil.

Finally Perfect

So I was thinking the other day, and it brought me to tears.

In 1 john 3:2 it talks about that when we finally see Christ, we shall be like him. I don’t believe that we will all look exactly like Jesus, but we will be like him in the perfect bodies that God created for us to have. We will no longer be too fat or too skinny, too old or too young, too tall or too short…we will just be perfect…

All the scars on our bodies will be gone, our skins will glow perfectly, our postures will be perfect, there will be no wrinkles no grey hairs. Even the hair on our bodies will be transformed…the same hair that we have chemically treated so that we could get this texture or that color…oh but when we see him, our minds will be perfect, and our bodies will be perfect…and we will fall in love with God again…and appreciate the beauty of our bodies…

Because when we see him, we shall be like him (1 john 3:2)

~selah~

(p.s. to the extent we see him here on this earth…to the same extent we will become like him)

Book Review: UNBURDENED

Author: Chris Tiegreen

You know we spend to much time worrying and complaining, and being concerned about everything- even when we know that Jesus said that we are to cast all our cares on him, and that we are not to let our hearts be troubled.

Chris Tiegreen is excellent at explaining the importance of giving everything we have to God, and letting him bear our burdens.

I had one concern

on Page 25 he talks about how God uses moderate levels of stress for a purpose.

Stress is not good- excitement can be good, anticipation can be good, but stress is never good.

Therefore God can never use stress!

With all that said- it is still a very good book that everyone needs to read and learn to give everything to God.

Book Review: Mind Your Mortgage

Authur: Robert J. Bernabe

This is an excellent book that takes you through the ins and outs of mortgages.

I did not think it was possible to make mortgages so simplistic, but Mr. Bernabe has managed to do this without much effort.

Although I am not in the process of getting a mortgage, it is great to learn these things now- so that when I am ready to buy a house, I will be ready.

I highly recommend this book!

Don't resist the devil

There is a notion going on today that everything that happens in life comes from God…God sends us illness, God sends us devastation, God sends wars, God sends pain and trouble, God sends natural disasters, God makes people go to hell…

Unfortunately this is not true… God is NOT in control of everything…yes I repeat: God is NOT in control of everything – He gave us the authority on this earth (Genesis 1:26), and when he gave us authority he made it so that he can’t do anything on the earth without the use of people— think of all the miracles in the Bible, none of them happened without people…

Unfortunately there are many things that God wants to happen that didn’t and won’t:

  1. He wanted Jesus to come through King Saul’s lineage (1 Samuel 13:13-14)
  2. He wants all to be saved (2 Peter 3:9) yet many won’t be saved (Matthew 7:13)
  3. He had great plans for Israel, yet they went through unnecessary hardship (Jeremiah 29:11)
  4. And many more in the entire Bible, especially the book of 1st and 2nd Kings

So this comes back to the title- if you don’t resist the devil, God will not resist the devil for you…God has empowered us to resist the devil (James 4:7; Luke 10:19-20). But how will you resist the devil, when you think that EVERYTHING is from God…NO! Only good things are from God (James 1:17) – Evil is not from God…so you have to resist it!

YOU HAVE TO RESIST the devil! Especially since you know that you have so much more power!!! (1 John 4:4)

Chronicles of Wasted Time

This is war! This is work! People are dying!

When will I stop wasting time doing purposeless things, knowing fully well that God has called me for his purpose…

The people are perishing because they don’t know their power or their authority (Hosea 4:6), while I sit and ponder how not to get my feelings hurt because someone did not smile at me…

Get OVER it!!!

There are more important things to do! God has called me to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons (Matthew 10:8).

And it’s about time I did that and stopped wasting time on trivial useless things…
