The other day I was in traffic and I got so upset. I felt like I was wasting so much time… the car in front of us was pumping out black smoke, the lanes had disappeared and it seemed the bus beside us was trying to make a baby with our car…
But all of a sudden I heard my self say “It’s not an inconvenience, it’s your life.” Being in traffic was not an inconvenience it was just where I was at the moment… that point in time in my life I was in traffic in lagos, Nigeria, and it was okay. In a few moments I would be at home eating dinner… a few moments before that I was at work eating lunch… Life is all about moments, some moments are more pleasurable than others, but that doesn’t change the fact that whatever you’re going through is a part of your life… it may be more challenging than you would like… but it’s okay… that too will pass…
So after I heard that statement I was able to relax and appreciate a few things… the sun was setting and it was so beautiful, all the different shades were so amazing… then there were the people lying under the bridge while I was on my way to my home… I was all of a sudden thankful for my home… and then the gas tank (in the car) was about three-quarters full, I couldn’t help but be thankful for my hubby and his decision to fill up my tank… so all of a sudden I realized that I had a lot to be thankful for… so I smiled and enjoyed that moment of my life, because even in its challenges it was still beautiful…
What moments in your life do you enjoy?
What moments don’t you enjoy? What do you think you can do to help you be more patient with those moments?
Remember to smile 🙂
